RESEARCH CENTER FOR GENETIC ENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

Equipment

The RCGEB is equipped with modern and sophisticated equipment. The current value of the scientific equipment of the institution is app. 1.2 million US$. The equipment has been purchased continuously in the last 30 years, primarily from the funds supplied by research grants financed from international agencies. Most of the projects were undertaken within the National Reference Laboratory for Hemoglobinopathies. This laboratory has been located within the Pediatric Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje until 1979, while from 1979 to 1986 within the Faculty of Agriculture in Skopje. In 1986 with the establishment of the RCGEB, the National Reference Laboratory for Hemoglobinopathies has become a part of this Institution. Additional funds for the equipment at the RCGEB were provided by the Government of the R. Macedonia, UNIDO, FEBS and PHARE.
